Please join us in this effort to remove trash, mostly plastic, from the beaches in the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge.  We will meet at this location first, but some volunteers will be asked to clean beaches at other access points in the Refuge such as Cocoanut Point Park.

These beaches are not severely littered (except during cargo spills), but small pieces of plastic and balloon parts are usually present, along with a few beverage containers.  These small objects are serious threats to sea turtles, and will will try to remove them.

Friends of the Carr Refuge plans to conduct monthly beach cleanups.  Future dates will be published soon.  Please join us for the first ones.

Our Mission Statement:  “To promote the conservation of sea turtles and natural resources of the Archie Carr NWR and engage in such educational, scientific partnership and civic activities as will support the mission of the refuge.”
