Learn about sea turtles on the most important nesting beach in North America.  Conditions permitting, you will observe the contents of a recently emerged nest.  When available, we will release rescued hatchlings during these events.

More than 10,500 Loggerhead nests have been counted in the 20.5 miles of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge so far this year.  The Green Turtles started a little later and their numbers are over 5,500 already.  Spend an hour with us and observe a turtle nest where the eggs hatched just a few days before our visit.

These talks and short walks are provided by reservation at no cost.  Donations or memberships in the Friends of the Carr Refuge are most welcome but not required.

Our Mission Statement:  “To promote the conservation of sea turtles and natural resources of the Archie Carr NWR and engage in such educational, scientific partnership and civic activities as will support the mission of the refuge.”
