The Barrier Island Center (8385 Florida A1A, Melbourne Beach, FL 32951) serves as a visitors' center for the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge.  During the peak nesting months of June and July, the Friends of the Carr Refuge lead nighttime turtle walks on Wednesday and Saturday nights starting at the Barrier Island Center (BIC).  During August and early September, the Friends lead daytime turtle walks that include nest excavations on the beach near the BIC.

Sebastian Inlet State Park is within the Refuge boundary and is open 24 hours a day. The park borders the Sebastian Inlet and has separate entrances on each side.  Unless you have a Florida State Park annual pass, you must pay a modest fee to enter.  Keep your receipt in case you want to visit the Park properties other side of the Inlet.  A restaurant is located on the north side of the Inlet.  The Sebastian Inlet Fishing Museum is located on the south side of the Inlet.

Our Mission Statement:  “To promote the conservation of sea turtles and natural resources of the Archie Carr NWR and engage in such educational, scientific partnership and civic activities as will support the mission of the refuge.”
